About Netball

Netball is a fast-paced team sport that focuses on movement, passing, and precision shooting. Played between two teams of seven players, the objective is simple: work the ball down the court and score by shooting it through the opponent’s hoop.

Netball is built on teamwork and strategy. With designated positions and specific court areas for each player, the game encourages coordination, communication, and quick decision-making. It’s energetic, competitive, and suitable for both social and league-level play.

At Fastt Sports Netball Court, we are proud to host FourLeaf Netball, an independent netball club that runs its training at the facility. The club offers both pre-session and in-session development coaching, focusing on individual and group training sessions. Their coaching is designed to develop players’ skills, confidence, fitness, agility, and game strategy, creating a supportive environment where athletes can improve, grow, and reach their full potential on the court.

Rules:

A netball match begins with a centre pass. The ball must be passed within three seconds of receiving it, and players are not allowed to run while holding the ball — they must pass or shoot from where they land.

Each player has a specific position and may only move within certain areas of the court. Physical contact is not allowed, and defenders must stand at least 0.9 metres (3 feet) away when attempting to block a pass or shot.

Only the Goal Shooter and Goal Attack are allowed to score, and they must shoot from within the designated shooting circle.

The team that scores the most goals wins the game.

Scoring & Winning

Each successful shot through the hoop counts as 1 goal.

A standard netball match consists of four 15-minute quarters, with short breaks between each quarter.

The team with the highest number of goals at the end of the match wins. If the scores are tied in certain competitions, extra time may be played to determine a winner.
