About Squash

Squash is a high-intensity indoor racket sport played by two players in a four-walled court. The game is fast, strategic, and physically demanding, requiring quick movement, sharp reflexes, and smart shot placement.

Players take turns hitting a small rubber ball against the front wall, aiming to make it difficult for their opponent to return. Because the ball can rebound off the side and back walls, squash creates dynamic rallies and exciting angles. It’s an excellent full-body workout that improves speed, endurance, coordination, and mental focus.

Rules:

A match begins with a serve. The server must hit the ball against the front wall above the service line, and the ball must land in the opponent’s back quarter of the court.

After the serve, players alternate hitting the ball against the front wall. The ball may hit the side or back walls before or after striking the front wall, as long as it hits the front wall before touching the floor.

The ball is allowed to bounce only once on the floor before being returned. If it bounces twice, goes out of bounds, or fails to reach the front wall, the opponent wins the point.

Players must also make a genuine effort to give their opponent a clear path to the ball to ensure fair play and safety.

Scoring & Winning

Modern squash uses rally scoring, meaning a point is awarded on every rally, regardless of who served.

Games are played to 11 points, and a player must win by at least 2 points (for example, 11–9 or 13–11).

Matches are typically played as best of 5 games, meaning the first player to win 3 games wins the match
